Kpop Demon Hunters

Last week the animated movie Kpop Demon Hunters was released on Netflix. Since its release, I've been seeing so many videos and advertizements for it on social media; Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube. When I first heard of the movie's concept, I thought it would be really silly, but I really enjoyed it! The care and attention to detail for each character was very evident. As someone who spent some time in Korea, I noticed a lot of familiar items and references throughout the movie such as the food they were eating, the traditional clothing used for the demons and even the curly perms all of the old ladies wear. I was very impressed. Even the music and choreography was on point. I noticed that one song in particular has gone viral: "Soda Pop" by the Saja Boys. So many people are doing their own dance covers for this one song from the movie. The song is as cutesy as the name suggests, but it has captured the hearts of Kpop fans across the globe.

    Hi Aya!
    It's so interesting how different people can get different advertisements! I haven't seen any at all for the movie which I'm surprised by, as it seems like something I'd enjoy. I've always wanted to go to South Korea and immerse myself in the culture, it's on the bucket list for sure!

    It is really interesting how ads vary from person to person. My family and co-workers like to share memes. What we see is completely different.

    If you're a Kpop fan, you'll LOVE this movie! It's SO good! From the audience response and director interviews, there will likely be a second movie. Korea is such a great country. The people I met there were so nice and the food was really good! You should totally go if you get a chance. I'm making plans to visit again next year.

    I have been thinking about watching this movie as I have also been seeing ads on basically every social media platform I am on. It looks very cute and fun. I am not a huge Kpop fan but I adore a good animated movie and the concept seems right up my alley. It makes me wonder about how much the advertisements have played into my wanting to watch it lol.
